Thanks for the Memories
May 2008
Fleming Creative Group, Switch's parent company just celebrated its 25th anniversary. Although Switch has only been along for the ride for 1/3 of the time, a lot of the memories were definitely Switch-induced. Check out our salute to the Group here. You'll definitely recognize some favourite Switch alumni. Nope, not the ones in the short shorts!.
Interim Site Launched Without Fanfare
May 2008
OK, so taking care of business on your own turf is a hell of a lot harder than working on behalf of a client. Sure we liked our old site, but even we were seeing the credibility gap as we promised people three years running that "the new site is imminent." So OK, the new site isn't quite as imminent as we had hoped. This will have to do for now. Launched without fanfare... but most certainly christened with the requisite amount of beer.
500 New Employees Arrive at Switch
April 2008
They came without a lot of fuss. Young, eager, with the promise of great productivity and even greater ROI. Said they'd take whatever we could throw at them – as long as it isn't meat, dairy, or cooked. Yup, Switch has gone green and along with some major plant and process initiatives, the best thing of all is that we now have our own 'World of Worms' out back, working hard to bite off more than we can chew.
Who Cares About Awards?
April 2008
OK, we do. Occasionally. But we (read CW) also watch American Idol and think the best show ever on TV was 'So You Think You Can Dance.' Competition is always more keen in a small group (or so the Switch group psychologist on call tells us). This is a group that can make a contest out of guessing the exact date someone is leaving (Note: winner is always the CD, who shares this tip for fellow design studio owners – "When the dental appointments go up, you have exactly four months til goodbye.") Anyway, we digress. The good news is that our site for Peace it Together (www.peaceittogether.ca) recently won an IMA Outstanding Achievement Award in the 'Advocacy' category. We couldn't be happier as a great site attracts great donors (including a recent injection of funding from Spielberg's Righteous Persons Foundation.) Check PiT out... and consider a link if you love the idea of filmmaking as a catalyst for peace.
